This is a contest to predict when a snowmobile (sled) falls through the ice during spring melt in Houghton, Michigan; therefore the exact time and date are unknown.  Participants submit time/date estimates with their guess(es) of when the snowmobile will fall through the ice.  The guess closest to the actual date and time will win 50% of the value of purchased tickets up to a maximum of $1000.

  1. All entries must be submitted prior to the snowmobile falling through the ice.
  2. Contest participants must be at least 18 years old to purchase a guess.
  3. The day and time of the sinking will be determined by web cam video; the web cam time stamp will be the official time used to determine the winner of the contest.
  4. If a clear date and time cannot be identified, a decision will be made by the Houghton Rotary Sink the Sled Committee with data available to the best of their abilities.
  5. The sled is considered “fallen through” when all parts of the snowmobile and frame are below the surface of the water.  If the sled does not fully submerge, a decision will be made by the Houghton Rotary Sink the Sled Committee with data available to the best of their abilities.
  6. Participants can submit multiple entries.
  7. This is a fundraiser.  The decision of the Houghton Rotary Sink the Sled Committee is final.
  8. Houghton Rotary is not responsible for lost or stolen guesses or tickets.
  9. Houghton Rotarians are not eligible to win.
  10. Participants can guess as many times as they would like.  Guesses are $3 for one guess or $5 for 2 guesses.
  11. Only guesses with an order date and time prior to the snowmobile falling through the ice are valid.
